Comporta
My sister-in-law recommended Comporta, so we all decided to meet there for a weekend getaway. It was absolutely beautiful, with perfect beach weather and a laid-back vibe. Since Comporta isn’t overly touristy yet, we found plenty of peaceful spots to unwind and enjoy the scenery
We visited 2 beaches while we were there - Praia da Comporta and Praia da Pego. Both beaches are gorgeous, warm and large. Stay in Comporta
We decided to book a villa for the whole group, but it turned out to be quite a challenge. Most major rental companies required a minimum stay of 7 nights, and even the more flexible ones rarely went below 4. Thankfully, we found a beautiful villa on Airbnb with no minimum night requirement—perfect for our weekend stay. The house was stunning!

The 2 places that got my attention was - Pestana Troia and Quinta da Comporta . We will definitely explore next time we are in Comporta.
Food in Comporta
5 Sentidos Comporta Carvalhal - My husband and I came here for dinner and loved every bite. We ordered the eggplant and seafood risotto, a side of olives, and the standout—salmon pâté, which came with crispy toast and was absolutely delicious.
We paired our meal with a bottle of Vinho Verde, which complemented everything perfectly. For dessert, we shared the panna cotta orange and pistachio cake—another winner!
Ilha do Arroz - Our first choice was the stunning Comporta Café Beach Club—the setup looked amazing from the outside—but it was closed for a private event. Luckily, the place we ended up at was just as good. Located right on the beach, we simply strolled over from the sand to the restaurant.
The food was fantastic. We ordered Portuguese fresh cheese (a must-try), bread, olives, a whole Seabass, sautéed veggies, cilantro rice, and salad. Everything was delicious and paired perfectly with a bottle of Portuguese sparkling wine—so good, we ended up ordering a second one! It was the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Sal Restaurant in Pego beach - Another great find, right on the beach. It is considered as one of the best restaurants in Pego beach to try. We ordered Prawns with Garlic Sauce, Tiger Prawns, Clams (to die for), Seabream, saúteed Veggies, Caprese Salad, Olives, side of bread, passion fruit cake. We all chose our own drinks—my husband and I enjoyed a crisp Vinho Verde, while my sister-in-law and her husband went for a few cocktails, which they said were fantastic.

After wrapping up our stay in Comporta, my husband and I drove to Lagos. It took us about 2.5 hours with 1 break to reach here. We were so tired that we ended up taking it easy that evening.
Next day, we finished breakfast at home and went to see Praia do Camilo, Praia do Pinhao and Ponta da Piedade. We skipped the water activities, and simply strolled around, soaking in the stunning views and relaxing. Later, we headed to Meia Praia—a wide, peaceful beach perfect for unwinding.
We originally planned to have lunch at Bahia Beach Bar, but since it was closed, we walked just two minutes over to Linda’s Beach Bar. There, we ordered garlic prawns, a side of bread, and Dover sole with white wine. I’m not usually a fan of bony fish, but they kindly served it as a fillet—and I absolutely loved it. It was my first time trying Dover sole, and it didn’t disappoint
We wrapped up our day around 3 PM and headed home. Portugal has plenty of large supermarkets like Pingo Doc e, and we stopped by to pick up pasta, tomatoes, fresh prawns, piri piri chilies, and a few herbs and spices. That night, we cooked dinner at home—and honestly, it turned out to be the best piri piri prawn spaghetti I’ve ever had! So if you’re feeling too tired to dine out or traveling with kids, know that you can whip up a quick, delicious meal right at home.
Important to Note - Praia do Camilo though popular but it is a very small beach so if your expectation is to find a spot to relax, you may need to go elsewhere. Also, in my opinion, Lagos has tons of caves, grottos to see and I will recommend it to those, who want to water activities like Kayaking etc.
Sagres
On our last day in Lagos, we took a trip to Sagres—the south-westernmost point of Europe. For centuries, it was believed to be “the end of the world.” In ancient times, it was the last known point on the map, which is why the Romans called it *Promontorium Sacrum, meaning “the sacred promontory” or “the end of the world.
We visited Cabo de Sao Vicente and the views are beautiful. I am not surprised, why it was called the end of the World. Once you get to the tip of one of the mountains, the only thing you see is water. We walked around and enjoyed our time. There is a small Cafe, Souvenir store, paid restroom on site (0.70 EUR) and of course we had to enjoy some coffee and unwind.
Unfortunately, we could not enjoy the great restaurant recommendations in Sagres but from what I read, I highly recommend - Three Little Birds, A Sagres, Retiro do Pescador.
With this, we ended up our trip to Lagos and drove back to Lisbon to end our beautiful trip.
